Feeding our family...

One 17th morning (Monday), when the volunteers of our Trust were seriously engrossed in their respective kainkaryams, there came two middle aged men, very pale and haggard and wounded in different parts of the body. They bore marks of domestic laborers. Seeing them stand calmly at the doors of the Trust, a volunteer enquired there whereabouts and the purpose of their visit to the Trust.

Fervor on etiquettes

Vidhya Sahayam

Two students of SRIMAAN BHATTAR GURUKULAM had not undergone their sacred function of Upanayanam. But the boys were very enthusiastic and were requesting ammangar and swami to perform the orthodoxical etiquette. At a stage they began to importune for the same and ammangar and swami were pleased their eagerness and arranged the upanayanam to be performed at the gurukulam itself

The upanayanam function was arranged in a grandway on 24th June. All the usual orthodox and customary practices were observed - Goshti, Thadiyaradhana, Udhaka Shanthi, Kumara Bhojanam, Yagnopaveeth Dharanam, etc. Many Acharya purushas, Vidwans and well wishers assembled to bless the vadus. Everyone who came to know about the children's enthusiasm in learning were surprised and very much pleased.

Very fortunate...

Kainkaryam

On the eve of SriKoorathazhwan's thirunakshtram, it was a great baghyam of the Trust to honour one of His descendants, Sri Parasara Thiruvenkata Bhattar swamy under "Acharya vandanam" scheme. Swamy is a parama sathvikar whose sashtaybhdapoorthi was celebrated recently. He is looking after SriNarasimhar sannidhi and Sri Koorathazhwan sannidhi at Thiruvarangam. Come what may, swamy never misses the kainkaryams. When performing the kainkaryams, swamy never speaks a word nor engages in any other activity which will disturb the kainkaryam. So much is his involvement. Swamy has three sons and all of them are deeply engaged in the Sampradaya kainkaryams.

Walking Wisdom ...

Sri Anantazhwan was an acharya par excellence. All of us like to do kainkaryams to Emperuman and we perform the kainkaryams. He too did kainkaryam. How different was he then? We do the Kainkaryam that 'we like' doing. If the kainkaryam and our interests coincide, we take it up without hesitation. But if our interests don't fall in line with the available kainkaryams, we often abstain from performing it.

Need. Not a luxury.

Anuyagam

"An empty belly hears nobody. The belly rules the mind" is an often quoted saying. For most of us a small delay in consuming food would make the day miserable. We would feel low both mentally and physically for the rest of the day. Our mood will fall off the cliff and turn the calm-ocean like mood of the fellow beings into murky waters. The stomach would throw a tantrum and the rest of the body parts would follow suit obediently. If a late meal can spoil the quality of our life so easily, just think of the families that consider eating twice a day an unprecedented luck bestowed by Supreme Being? The mere thought of starving for two days will definitely cause us to shudder. And a huge part of our nation goes through starvation as though it were their normal way of life.

Deepavali Kondattam

Deepavali often sees us back in our native town wherever be the place of our official work. No one misses this opportunity to be with His/Her parents. For the Azhwars and Acharyas at Srirangam also, this day is homecoming. All the azhwars and acharyas in their respective palanquin, with love overflowing from their heart, make their way to the Sannidhi of Periya Perumal. The day is spent at His sannidhi with Namperumal too amidst them. The very place looks like a galaxy of stars with the moonlike Namperumal showering his soothing grace upon them. With nightfall, the Azhwars and Acharyas return to their respective sannidhis with a crestfallen Thirumukham (face).
